Inter Milan are set to extend Lautaro Martinez’s contract by the end of the season, as confirmed by CEO Beppe Marotta. The club captain has led from the front and is now leading the race for the top scorer award in Serie A, with 23 goals.
The Nerazzurri are also leading the title race, and are 14 points ahead in the table, with their rivals AC Milan in second place after matchday 29. As a result, it seems unlikely that they will be overtaken with only nine matches remaining in the season. And Lautaro’s contributions have been vital in helping them achieve this position.
Inter Milan want Simeone Inzaghi to stay alongside Lautaro Martinez
“We want to continue with Simone Inzaghi as our manager, he’s under contract until June 2025 and it’s all set to keep going with him”.
“Also with Lautaro Martinez, we are on the same page and convinced to continue together”, Marotta told Rai.
Inzaghi has been a vital part of the club’s success, helping them complete the domestic double and also make it to the Champions League final. Things didn’t turn out as well in Europe this season, since they were eliminated in the Round of 16 on penalties by Atletico Madrid.
But, the Inter board has seen enough to want to keep him for the foreseeable future. Therefore, a contract renewal for both can be expected in the coming months.
