Lautaro Martinez signs five-year extension with Inter Milan

Lautaro Martinez has signed his new contract with Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano. The deal has been completed and a total agreement has been reached between the two parties. Martinez signed his contract this morning, and the formal announcement has been made too.

The 24-year-old joined Inter Milan in 2018 from Racing Club in Argentina. The fee paid by the Italian club at the time was €25 million. After being signed by Inter, Martinez had a €111 million release clause. That was one of the main reasons why he did not move to Barcelona two years ago.

The release clause has now been removed in his new contract. Martinez has signed the new deal until 2026 that will keep him at the club until he is 29. The Argentinian has made 144 appearances for Inter Milan, and has scored 54 goals across all competitions.

The striker was one of the key parts of Antonio Conte’s squad last year as they won the Scudetto. As part of the Argentina national team, he lifted the Copa America trophy at the end of the season. He remains the starting centre-forward at Inter Milan, now alongside Edin Dzeko.

Martinez has been continuing his form for Inter Milan, and has netted five times for them in nine Serie A games. While Inter are going through a very difficult financial situation right now, they have managed to tie down one of their most prized assets for the upcoming years.
