Lyon have appointed Laurent Blanc as their new head coach, after dismissing Peter Bosz. The club have confirmed their decision in an official statement.
The club are ninth in the Ligue 1 table with 14 points from ten games. And in their last five games, they have only been able to pick up one point. The most recent game for the club ended in a 1-1 draw with Toulouse. And following the draw, Bosz was suspended from his post.
Laurent Blanc returns to Ligue 1 management with Lyon
“In view of the disappointing results obtained at the beginning of the season, which fall far short of the expectations and objectives set, Olympique Lyonnais has informed Peter Bosz, coach of the professional team… that he was being suspended pending his dismissal,” Lyon said in a statement.
“An internal reflection was carried out in order to find the necessary levers to allow the team to start again on solid bases in order to be in adequacy with the ambitions of OL this season.
“Following this process, Olympique Lyonnais have decided to appoint Laurent Blanc as head coach of the professional team for two seasons, until June 30, 2024.”
Blanc was previously in charge of Bordeaux, helping them win the title in 2009. He was also the manager of PSG between 2014 and 2016, guiding them to straight league titles.
