HBO’s *Lanterns* just shattered DC canon. Forget the accidental crash; Martin Jordan’s death was a deliberate act. This dark revelation reframes Hal’s legendary fearlessness not as bravery, but as a byproduct of deep, generational trauma. Showrunners confirm this gritty shift adds vital emotional stakes, transforming Hal Jordan from a classic hero into a man desperately struggling to hold on.
