Barcelona have another wonderkid from their academy, with Lamine Yamal consistently breaking records week after week. The youngster became the youngest player to ever feature for Barcelona, as well as to start a game for the Catalonian side.
He then became the youngest player to debut for Spain, passing his Barca teammate Gavi for the record. The forward then scored on his debut to become the youngest goalscorer in Spain’s history.
Lamine Yamal keeps making history after making debut for SpainÂ
The youngster clearly has a lot of potential and is trusted by Xavi. He is expected to make many more appearances for Barcelona this summer, after making his debut last season. His Spain teammates have been as impressed by him as his opponents, with many in disbelief that he is only 16 years old.
Lamine Yamal is close to renewing his contract with Barcelona in the coming days, after reaching an agreement with the board. A huge release clause is also expected to be inserted, considering they have done the same for their other La Masia graduates like Pedri and Gavi.Â
The youngster was in danger of leaving the club this summer, but Joan Laporta’s relationship with his agent, Jorge Mendes, was the reason he ended up staying. And now, with his sensational start for Barca and Spain, he could be one of the mainstays for years to come.
