Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract with Barcelona, as officially confirmed by the club. The youngster’s new contract runs until 2026, which is the maximum possible limit as prescribed by La Liga. The club has continued their tradition of inserting a €1 billion release clause into the contracts of their La Masia graduates with Yamal.
The deal was apparently signed secretly last July, and the youngster has since broken not only into the Barcelona first team but also the Spain national team. And now, he is the youngest goalscorer for both club and country.
Lamine Yamal signs new contract with Barcelona
“I’m very happy because it’s been a long road in La Masia. It is a source of pride for me. It’s a dream for me to spend three more years at the club of my life and I hope I can make the most of my time with Barça,” Lamine Yamal told Barça’s official platforms.
“At the moment, the goal is to be able to win many titles with Barça. Above all, to win.”
The forward has taken the world by storm after debuting at the end of last season. He is seen as a top prospect by the board for the future and could have a remarkable career if he builds on his potential.
In recent years, Barcelona have tied down La Masia graduates Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde and Ezzalzouli Abde to the first team in hopes of building a squad for the future. And now, Yamal becomes the latest to join the ranks.
