Kylian Mbappe is expected to have signed the highest-paying contract in the history of sports as a whole with PSG. This summer, his previous deal expired and he was expected to join Real Madrid as a free agent.
However, he performed a U-turn and re-signed with the French side for two more years, and an option for an extra year included. Which means that the striker could stay until 2025 through his current deal.
And according to French newspaper Le Parisien, Mbappe could earn up to €630 million if he fulfils the deal he has agreed to.
Kylian Mbappe’s massive new contract: Full details revealed
There are three parts to the deal, as follows:
- Kylian Mbappe’s yearly salary of €72 million.
- A signing bonus of €180 million divided into three different payments.
- A loyalty bonus after every transfer window. The amount will be worth €70 million in 2023, €80 million in 2024 and €90 million in 2025.
This strategy used by PSG is not new, as Barcelona have used a similar contract structure to keep Lionel Messi. The Argentine was paid $138 million per season, which ended up in him earning $550 million overall.
However, Mbappe’s contract surpasses the payments made to Messi by $100 million. And amidst rumours of him wanting to leave the club soon, he could pocket a humongous amount if he continues at the French capital.
