Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he was threatened by PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi after he decided not to extend his contract with the club till 2025. The France captain recently completed a free transfer to Real Madrid, ending a transfer saga years in the running.

And now, he has revealed how things were ahead of his final season with his hometown club. PSG have responded strongly to the comments made by their former star player as well, calling him out on the matter.

“I was made to understand that I would no longer play for PSG [after informing them of my desire to leave at the end of the season]. I was told right to my face, and quite violently, so I was convinced that I wasn’t going to play. Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. Without them, I would never have stepped onto the pitch again,” the Frenchman revealed.

“That’s why my ambition was different this year. It was below my standards but just playing, stringing together matches and winning trophies was my biggest pride but next season, I won’t settle for a season like that,” he added.

PSG have refuted Mbappe’s claims, saying he has absolutely no class, and that Al Khelaifi never made squad decisions. However, it doesn’t refute the claims made by the striker about his time with the French side.

The 25-year-old’s exit from PSG was quite messy, with payments reportedly not made to him for April, alongside several bonuses. The club were desperate to not lose him for free, but they have been forced to comply after the player’s decision to leave.
