Luis Enrique sent Real Madrid fans into a spiral with his comments ahead of PSG’s game against Marseille. The Spaniard revealed that there was still a chance the forward could end up staying with PSG beyond the season, even though his contract expires in June.
“I’m still hoping that Kylian will change his mind. He hasn’t said anything yet. He can still change his mind,” the 53-year-old Spaniard told Prime Video.
“Let’s imagine that we win four titles this season, and Kylian makes his choice at the last moment and decides that his place is in Paris. Why not?”
Kylian Mbappe’s current transfer situation clarified
According to Fabrizio Romano, the player has indeed informed the hierarchy that he wants to leave at the end of the season. This isn’t something he did last time around in 2022, when he was also expected to leave.
Kylian Mbappe is currently in direct talks with Real Madrid over the contract. Only the final details such as the image rights remain to be sorted out. Once they have been agreed, he will be revealed as a new Los Blancos signing.
As things stand, everything is going as planned to bring Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu. But if history is any guide, fans should be wary of the rumours and nothing is ‘done’ until the official communication comes out.
