Kylian Mbappe has issued an official legal notice to PSG over unpaid wages for the months of April and May, including a loyalty bonus he was owed. The total dues amount to around €100 million, as per L’Equipe.
Technically, Mbappe is still a PSG player since his contract runs till June 30, 2024. Yet, Real Madrid have confirmed that he will be joining them when his deal with the French side expires. As a result, PSG have no intention of paying the dues owed and are now being drawn into a legal battle.

The played and his lawyers plan to rely on Article 259 of the Ligue de Football Professionnel’s charter. The latter reads that “salaries must be paid by the clubs to the players under contract no later than the last day of each month, under the conditions of common law”.
Mbappe reportedly had a verbal agreement with the PSG hierarchy to forego bonuses totalling to €55 million, in order to save the club money from his departure. However, he was reportedly owed a bonus worth around €80 million near the end of his contract, which has not been paid out yet.
The Ligue 1 champions reportedly stopped paying out his wages upon learning that he would indeed be leaving the club as a free agent. And now, it seems like they are set for a messy legal battle with the player who was once the face of their project.
