Kunal Bahl Joins Shark Tank India After Deepinder Goyal’s Exit: A New Era for the Show
Why the Change?
This move comes shortly after news broke that Deepinder Goyal, co-founder and CEO of Zomato, would not be returning as a judge for the upcoming season. The reason behind this decision is reportedly linked to a sponsorship deal. Swiggy, Zomato’s main competitor, is said to be finalizing a ₹25 crore deal to sponsor Shark Tank India and requested Goyal’s removal as part of the agreement.
Kunal Bahl’s Entrepreneurial Journey
Kunal Bahl co-founded Snapdeal in 2010, one of India’s leading e-commerce platforms. In addition to his success with Snapdeal, Bahl is also a key player in Titan Capital, a venture capital firm he founded in 2015 alongside Rohit Bansal. Titan Capital has invested in over 200 startups, including Urban Company, OfBusiness, Razorpay, and Mamaearth, focusing on sectors like consumer internet, fintech, SaaS, D2C, and Web3.
In August 2023, Titan Capital announced plans to raise a ₹200 crore corpus to invest in follow-on rounds of startups from its seed portfolio. This strategic move follows their exit from Urban Company in July 2023.
