Konrad Laimer is expected to join Bayern Munich on a free transfer in June 2023. The midfielder’s contract with RB Leipzig expires at the end of the ongoing season, and he will be reuniting with his former manager, Julian Nagelsmann at the Allianz Arena.
He will also rejoin former teammates Marcel Sabirzer and Dayot Upamecano, who formerly played for Leipzig as well. He had a big chance to make the move this summer for €40 million, but the deal collapsed as he agreed to stay for another season.
Konrad Laimer to join Bayern Munich in 2023
The Austrian has been courted by Premier League clubs as well, who have been impressed by his performances. But, he remains keen on joining the record Bundesliga champions after moving from Leipzig.
Currently, there are verbal negotiations going on between the two parties. And the documents should be signed to seal the deal very soon. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, it is only a matter of time before the move is finalised.
Konrad Laimer was a target for Liverpool as well, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita expected to move on. The Reds are keen on adding a new midfielder to their ranks, and Laimer would have been a great option considering it would’ve been a free transfer.
But, his eyes are set only on Bayern – and he is expected to get his move in just a matter of time.
