Bayern Munich are confident of signing Konrad Laimer as a free agent in 2023. The RB Leipzig midfielder was an important target for them this summer. However, they weren’t able to reach an agreement with Leipzig over a transfer fee. There was an agreement on the side of the player, but it collapsed eventually.

Since the player has not renewed his contract as of yet, he might just be moving on to Bayern next summer. There is no confirmation over the transfer as of yet, but it is in the works.

The midfielder has been on the radar of Julian Nagelsmann since 2021. And soon, he could reunite with former teammates Marcel Sabitzer and Dayot Upamecano, who have both made the move to Bavaria from RB Leipzig.

Konrad Laimer recently opened up about his failed transfer to Bayern this summer:

“I was ready to make the move in the summer. It was very close, but I didn’t get the green light from Leipzig.”

“On the one hand, it’s nice because I’m an important player. On the other hand, it’s difficult, because you think a lot. But I’ve come to terms with it. Life goes on. I’d rather concentrate on the here and now. If you think too much, you lose sight of what’s most important.”

When Laimer is allowed to talk to Bayern in January, an agreement might be in place for him to join upon the expiry of his contract.
