Anime’s biggest night is almost here. The **10th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards** returns to Tokyo, Japan on **Saturday, May 23** — and this milestone edition is pulling out all the stops. From once-in-a-lifetime live musical performances to a presenter lineup that genuinely no one saw coming, this is the ceremony that proves anime has fully arrived as a global cultural force.

The [Crunchyroll Anime Awards](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crunchyroll_Anime_Awards) has grown from a fan-voted online poll into one of the most watched anime events on the planet, and the tenth edition feels like the culmination of a decade’s worth of that momentum.

## The Presenter Lineup Is Something Else Entirely

Thirty-two award categories will be handed out across the pre-show and main ceremony, presented by a roster that spans hip-hop royalty, Hollywood, K-pop, and Latin music. **RZA** of Wu-Tang Clan, acclaimed actor **Winston Duke**, GRAMMY-nominated Puerto Rican artist **Young Miko**, and K-pop stars **BamBam** and **TEN** are among the celebrity presenters confirmed.

But the headline moment belongs to global icon and long-time anime fan **The Weeknd**, who will personally present the night’s biggest award — **Anime of the Year**.

## Anime of the Year — The Six Nominees

| Nominee | Why It’s in Contention |
| --- | --- |
| DAN DA DAN Season 2 | Cult favourite that exploded globally |
| Gachiakuta | Raw, visceral storytelling that broke through |
| My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON | The emotional closing chapter of a generation-defining series |
| Takopi’s Original Sin | Deeply moving and unexpectedly dark |
| The Apothecary Diaries (Season 2) | Beloved for its smart, nuanced protagonist |
| The Summer Hikaru Died | Haunting and beautifully crafted |

Six very different shows, each with a passionate fanbase behind them. This one is genuinely too close to call.

## Live Performances That Will Give You Chills

The ceremony’s live music lineup alone is worth staying up for. **DEAN FUJIOKA** (*Yuri!!! on ICE*), **PORNOGRAFFITTI** (*My Hero Academia*), **ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION** (*Naruto*), and the iconic **Yoko Takahashi** (*Neon Genesis Evangelion*) are all confirmed performers. Hearing the Evangelion theme performed live at an anime awards ceremony — in Tokyo, at the tenth anniversary — is the kind of moment fans will talk about for years.

## A Decade of Anime Awards

The tenth edition marks a genuine milestone. When the Crunchyroll Anime Awards launched, streaming anime was still finding its footing globally. Today, the ceremony draws Hollywood A-listers as presenters, international music icons as fans, and tens of millions of viewers tuning in live across platforms.

For Indian anime fans, the timing is ideal — the pre-show starts at **1:30 PM IST** and the main ceremony at **2:30 PM IST** on May 23, making it one of the most accessible major anime events for the subcontinent in recent memory.
