Liverpool is the only team which has come close to Manchester City in recent times. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has won the Premier League 4 times in the last 5 seasons and the only time they missed out was won by Liverpool.
Manchester City has once again started the season strongly as they hope to make it a hat-trick of Premier League titles this season. However, Liverpool haven’t been the team they were before, often dropping points.
Manchester City are second with 23 points, only 1 point behind leaders Arsenal, while Liverpool sit in 10th place with 10 points. Liverpool will host Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp labels Manchester City as the best team in the world as Liverpool prepares to host Manchester City at Anfield
Jurgen Klopp said, via Marca: “It’s not that we feel different. It’s a home game. It’s Anfield, it’s us against Manchester City, the best team in the world, but we’ll try anyway.
“Knowing there are no guarantees, but we have the help of a full Anfield and we will try to use that.”
“I like to prepare for matches, but it’s the biggest challenge you can face in soccer. Closing spaces and players, attacking in the right areas…. If you close them down here, they’re there. It’s always a challenge.”
Klopp also commented on Haaland: “When you play against what is at the moment the best striker in the world, you have to make sure he doesn’t get too many balls. That’s the challenge with him. That’s what we will try to do.”
“Against City, if you mark Haaland with too many players, you open holes for the other world-class players. It’s a problem and we will try to find solutions.”
