Liverpool completed the signing of Luis Diaz from Porto for €40 million upfront and €20 million in add-ons. The total value of the deal is expected to rise to €65 million if all the clauses are met.

Diaz spent the last two-and-a-half seasons at FC Porto, where he made 125 appearances and scored 41 goals. He was one of the standout performers in the Portuguese league.

The Colombian has now signed a five and a half years deal with Liverpool. However, Jurgen Klopp feels that he will need some time to settle down at Anfield.

Klopp says Luis Diaz will need some time to settle down at Liverpool

Klopp said in the press conference prior to Liverpool’s FA Cup game against Cardiff City, via Marca: “If he would now come, step on the pitch and be immediately at his absolute best and playing better than all others, that would be really strange.”

“Because we worked together for a while, that needs time, of course, that he adapts to it.”

“I didn’t even see him yet, as he was not here at the training ground. Maybe we should wait a little bit!”

“We are really happy and excited about the signing. It’s just a really good sign that we work on all fronts to improve this team.”

“We have to be successful now and in the future, so he can help with both. That’s a really good thing.”
