Mohun Bagan SG academy graduate Kiyan Nassiri has completed a move to Chennaiyin FC, signing a three-year contract with the Marina Machans. The forward has made the move primarily because of playing time guarantees made by manager Owen Coyle, which he didn’t get at his boyhood club.
For the most part, Nassiri was used as an impact substitute. He announced himself to the world with a hat-trick against rivals East Bengal in the Kolkata derby. But since then, he has been used in rotation with a regular starting berth not coming his way.

However, in the limited opportunities he has received, he has shown that he can be an effective player in the final third. Nassiri has made 68 appearances for the Mariners, scoring nine goals and providing two assists during his time there.
He has also won the ISL Shield, ISL Cup, and the Durand Cup as part of the senior team. And now, will take on a new challenge down South.
Chennaiyin FC have been rebuilding their squad for the coming season and have signed Gurkirat Singh, Elsinho Dias, Laldinpuia, Mohammad Nawaz and Chima Chukwu to bolster their squad. They have also been linked with Brazilian attacking midfielder Lukas Brambilla, and could have a very competitive team by the time the transfer window ends.
And under Coyle, Nassiri could thrive if he can adapt to his new surroundings considering the quality of guidance in question.
