## Portrait of a Family: The Story

Baseball player Jung-gu and movie star Nam-mi are a celebrity couple blissfully happy in their careers and marriage, until a girl named Dong-ju shows up and instantly destroys their lives — seven years later, when Dong-ju gets involved in the death of a middle-school girl, the couple decides to fight a battle they have no chance of winning.

## Meet The Family Standing Behind Them

Kim Hae-sook plays Jung-goo’s mother, Kim Sun-young plays his older sister, and Kim Young-min plays his brother-in-law</cite> — a trio whose fierce loyalty becomes central to the story’s emotional weight. Yoo Jae-myung also joins as Kwak Chang-gi, the head of a large corporation connected to Jung-gu’s past baseball career.

## Why This Cast Matters

This isn’t the first time these veteran names have carried a project. Kim Sun-young previously won Best Supporting Actress at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in “Crash Landing on You,” while Kim Hae-sook remains one of Korean cinema’s most decorated character actresses. Their pairing here adds serious dramatic heft to a story already built around raw, high-stakes family loyalty — a theme that runs deep through [Korean cinema](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinema_of_South_Korea) as a whole.

The film was originally set to begin shooting back in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making this long-awaited release even sweeter for fans who’ve followed its journey.
