Atletico Madrid are waiting for an official proposal from Newcastle United for Kieran Trippier. The former Tottenham Hotspur right-back is a transfer target for the Magpies in the winter transfer window.

The England international is out of a contract with the La Liga champions in June 2023 and will have to be sold by the summer if he doesn’t renew. He is the main target for Newcastle United in the right-back position, and they are working on making an official bid for their transfer target.

Kieran Trippier on the move to St James’s Park?

Trippier made the move to Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2019 for €22 million. He has since become an integral part of the first team under Diego Simeone and helped them win the La Liga title last season as well.

Atletico Madrid are waiting for Newcastle official proposal for Kieran Trippier. He's the main target as right back as reported days ago, and he's out of contract in 2023 with Atléti – there are also other names in the list. ⚪️ #NUFC https://t.co/6H4zAv9486

Atletico Madrid are keen to hold on to the Englishman but will let him return to the Premier League if a decent offer arrives. The price tag that Atleti are holding out for is around €30 million, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle can match that fee.

The Spanish side don’t intend on replacing Trippier if he leaves, surprisingly. According to Marca, they are more likely to invest in a centre-back during the upcoming transfer window due to their injury crisis this season. Other players in the squad such as Sime Vrsalkjo, Renan Lodi and Marcos Llorente can play at right-back which is good news for Simeone if Trippier makes the move in January.
