The recently launched Kia Sonet promises an enhanced overall experience, boasting a broader powertrain spectrum compared to its predecessor. The upgrades aim to elevate Sonet’s performance in the sub-4m compact SUV segment, where it faces competition from key rivals such as Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.

Kia is presenting the Sonet facelift in various trims, including HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. The powertrain options encompass a 1.2 NA petrol engine with 5MT, 1.0L turbo petrol with iMT and 7DCT, and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine with 6MT, 6iMT, and 6TC. Prices start at ₹7,99,000 (ex-showroom) for the base HTE G1.2 5MT, and the most affordable petrol automatic variant, HTK+ G1.0T iMT, is priced at ₹10,49,000 (ex-showroom). The diesel automatic variant, HTX 1.5 CRDi iMT, comes in at ₹12,59,900.
Notably, the facelift introduces a diesel manual option, with the most affordable variant, HTE 1.5 CRDi MT, priced at ₹9.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The sporty 7-speed DCT is exclusively paired with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine, and the affordable variant is HTX G1.0T DCT, priced at ₹12,29,000 (ex-showroom). The top-tier variant is X-Line 1.5 CRDi AT, priced at ₹15,69,000 (ex-showroom).
While retaining the signature tiger nose grille, the Kia Sonet’s front fascia has been refreshed with new LED headlamps, LED DRLs, revised bumpers, and sleek trapezoidal fog lamp housings, contributing to a more imposing street presence. The side profile sees updated alloy wheels, enhancing the SUV’s overall profile. At the rear, the new Sonet features vertically stacked tail lamps with an interconnecting lighting element, creating a more cohesive rear section.
Inside, the Sonet showcases a revamped dashboard, upholstery, and a larger digital instrument cluster for an enhanced digital experience. Additional options for interior upholstery are also introduced, drawing inspiration from other Kia and Hyundai models such as the Seltos facelift, Carens, and Venue.
In terms of features, the new Kia Sonet ensures six airbags as standard across all variants, with top-spec models receiving premium features like a 360° camera and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making it a significant addition in the sub-4m SUV segment. The electrically operated driver’s seat (4-way adjustable) is another unique offering in this segment. Traction modes have been introduced to modulate the Traction Control System (TCS) for improved traction in challenging terrains, a segment-first feature.
The new Kia Sonet continues with existing engine options, including the 1.2-litre MPi petrol unit, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with transmission choices of 6iMT and 7DCT, and the 1.5-litre diesel unit with 6MT, 6iMT, or 6AT.
