Only a few days after the initial images of the facelifted Kia Carnival surfaced, the digital coverings were completely removed from the facelifted people mover. The brand’s images depict a more modern external design for the vehicle, similar to those that leaked last week. The Kia Carnival, which is currently in its fourth generation, will get a new look that includes Kia’s characteristic vertical headlamp treatment, an updated grille, new alloy wheels, and a redesigned rear.
The new design unites the Kia Carnival’s style with that of the rest of the portfolio, including the recently facelifted Sorento big SUV and EV9 electric SUV. A 1.6-liter turbo-petrol-electric hybrid powertrain has also been confirmed for the Kia Carnival lineup, at least in South Korea.
That engine is already seen in the Sorento and Sportage midsize SUVs, which share a platform with the Kia Carnival, but Kia Australia has yet to confirm whether that powertrain would be available in right-hand drive territories such as Australia.
The Kia Carnival upgrade will come with rain-sensing wipers, blind spot view monitor cameras, and a digital instrument cluster
A hybrid powertrain would undoubtedly be a fascinating lineup addition for the popular vehicle, which has commanded over 80% market share in its segment in Australia to date. While no official interior images have been released, it is assumed that the makeover will include internal technology and connection improvements.
The Korean Car Blog has previously reported expected updates such as new dual 12.3-inch curved screen designs seen in several other recent models, such as the Sorento, which will also run the brand’s latest ‘CCNC’ Connected Car Navigation Cockpit infotainment software. Aside from the probable elimination of the Special Edition grade for the facelifted vehicle, no local pricing or a full list of specs has been published.
