Manchester United are in the market to sign a new number 2 goalkeeper before the transfer window closes. Dean Henderson was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest earlier in the window, and the Englishman is now the number 1 for Steve Cooper’s side.
Kevin Trapp, Yann Sommer and Martin Dubravka have all been rumoured as potential options for Erik Ten Hag’s side. However, Trapp has refused a transfer to United to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom he won the Europa League this past season.
“I received a written proposal from Manchester United – (one of the) world’s top clubs. Yesterday, I informed those responsible at both clubs that I had decided to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt,” the goalkeeper said.
Manchester United considering bid for Martin Dubravka
The Newcastle United goalkeeper has been replaced by Nick Pope, who joined the Magpies from Burnley after they were relegated.
As a result, the two clubs will now discuss a loan move for Dubravka for him to compete with David De Gea for the ongoing season. The discussions will reveal whether a buy option is to be included for the player or not.
Manchester United recently completed the signing of Casemiro from Real Madrid. And now, they are expected to sign Antony from Ajax as well. The player is keen on the move, and an official bid is expected very soon.
