Fulham defender Kevin Mbabu is all set to complete a switch to his boyhood club, Servette, on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The player was linked with ambitious transfers to Manchester United and West Ham United during the January transfer window. But both those rumours amounted to nothing as he ended up staying with the Cottagers. The Swiss transfer window is open until February 15, and he is now expected to return home for the next few months.
Kevin Mbabu to sign for boyhood club Servette on loan
The medical tests for the move have taken place, and it is only a matter of time before his arrival is made official by the Swiss club.
The right-back was a regular for Wolfsburg for the last three seasons, and also featured for Newcastle United prior to joining Fulham this summer. And with a step away from the intensity of the Premier League, it could be a good opportunity for him to get things back on track ahead of a potential return in the summer.
With Kenny Tete, and now Cedric Soares at the club, Kevin Mbabu would have had very limited opportunities had he continued till the end of the season. And with the chance to play regular minutes, the defender needs to get back to top form to really make a difference at this stage of his career.
