Kevin De Bruyne has won the 2019-20 EA Sports FIFA Player of the Season. Although Liverpool won the Premier League, De Bruyne had an amazing season.

The Belgian finished last season with 13 goals and 20 assists in 35 appearances – equalling Thierry Henry’s record for maximum assists in a single Premier League campaign.

Pep Guardiola would definitely want his side to make a fightback this season and win the Premier League. De Bruyne will have to play a stellar role to help City lift the title.

The playmaker feels that Liverpool is still the team to beat despite no new signings this season.

The Belgian told the Daily Mail: “Sometimes some people find it more difficult after winning to get that same feeling again. It is very difficult to recreate the same feeling even with the same team,”

“There is so much in life that goes on personally. Every little thing can change you. Injury can change you. Football is all about circumstances and it’s already difficult enough to try and win one, never mind twice.”

“I think they [Liverpool] can reach the levels again. I don’t think you need to change the team to have the same feeling or ambition. But I don’t know how they feel. I don’t know their desire. For everyone it is personal.”

“Sometimes when you win something you can feel less. Sometimes it can give you extra hunger. So it’s difficult to know. Let’s see.”

The Premier League has started this weekend but Manchester City will be kickstarting their 2020-21 campaign next weekend against Wolves.
