Former Barcelona player Kays Ruiz is set to rejoin the club from Paris Saint-Germain, as reported by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.
The player has reached the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and even though sporting director Leonardo wanted to keep the player at the French capital, he saw his future away from the city. And now, he is set to return to Catalonia after a spell away for 6 years.
Ruiz operates as a central midfielder, and is valued at €3 million by Transfermarkt. He featured sporadically for Mauricio Pochettino’s team this past season, making only seven appearances for the first team, and playing a little over two hours of football in total.
At 18, he still has a lot of development to undergo as a player. He will become the fourth free agent signing for Barcelona this summer after Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay were all confirmed to be joining the club this summer.
Considering Gini Wijnaldum chose PSG over Barcelona after a verbal agreement was reached, Ruiz could be the replacement signing for the Dutch international. However, the Barcelona midfield is already packed with the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Riqui Puig and Ilaix Kourouma all failing to get game time.
It is unclear as to whether the teenager will link up with Barcelona’s youth team, or join the first team or not. In either case, he is a remarkable talent to be re-signed as a free agent for the Blaugrana.
