Just three days before its theatrical release, the makers of **Karuppu** have dropped the trailer — and Suriya fans, this one is worth every second of the wait. The nearly 3-minute trailer gives us our first full look at Suriya as the folk deity Karuppusamy, and it’s raw, fierce, and emotionally loaded all at once. The [Karuppu Swamy deity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karuppasamy) is deeply rooted in Tamil folk tradition as a guardian of justice for the oppressed — and the film seems to honour that legacy with conviction. ### What Happens in the Karuppu Trailer?

The 2-minute-45-second trailer sets the stage with a world deeply fractured by corruption — where corrupt lawyers and powerful oppressors crush the underprivileged underfoot. When all hope of justice fades, Karuppusamy, the beloved folk deity, descends into human form with one mission: to protect his people and annihilate injustice.

Suriya commands every frame he’s in — the intensity, the physicality, and the spiritual weight of the character come through clearly. Trisha Krishnan plays the co-lead role of Preethi, bringing emotional grounding to the story. In a surprising and bold creative choice, director RJ Balaji himself steps in front of the camera to play Baby Kannan, the film’s primary villain.

The trailer does have a few moments where the editing feels rushed, but it never loses momentum. It manages to pack in the film’s core emotional beats, the action spectacle, and a healthy dose of fan service — all without spoiling too much. Cinematographer GK Vishnu’s visuals look stunning throughout, and Sai Abhyankkar’s score adds a powerful mythological undertone that fits the subject perfectly.

### What’s Next for Suriya?

Suriya isn’t slowing down after Karuppu. He is set to appear next in **Vishwanath and Sons**, a romantic drama directed by Venky Atluri, co-starring Mamitha Baiju and Raveena Tandon, now reportedly eyeing an Independence Day release. He has also commenced work on **Suriya47**, a cop action-comedy helmed by Jithu Madhavan, with Nazriya Nazim as the female lead.
