Real Madrid have already extended Karim Benzema’s contract until June 2024. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner has not featured as prominently this season due to injuries. But, he is still considered an indispensable part of the team and will continue with them beyond the coming season.
In spite of his struggles with fitness this season, he has scored 13 goals and provided three assists this season across all competitions. And with the second half of the season remaining, he could be set for another impressive campaign if he can stay fit.
Karim Benzema to stay at Real Madrid until June 2024
Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the veteran would be continuing beyond 22/23 in his recent press conference. He was also asked to comment about whether they would sign a back-up striker for the former France international.
“It is a subject that must be discussed calmly. Karim’s age and Karim’s performance must be taken into account,” Ancelotti said. “Benzema is our number nine. After the World Cup he is doing very well and I think next season, too, he will do very well.”
June 2024 will be an interesting time for Real Madrid due to the arrival of Endrick. A deal is in place for the talented youngster. But due to legal restrictions, he can only make the move next summer. And Karim Benzema might just pass on the torch to him at that point, if he does not continue any further.
