The 28-year-old has endured a difficult spell since his move to Manchester City in 2022 from Leeds United. The former England international barely got any time on the pitch, and was hampered by injuries as well.
He was eventually loaned out to West Ham United in January for a chance to revive his career through regular playing time. However, he wasn’t able to break through with the Hammers either. And now, he has joined Ipswich for another chance to get his career back on track.
The former Leeds United midfielder was once considered among the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League. But, his stock has dropped immensely since Euro 2024 where he made his mark. Now, it remains to be seen how he performs with Kieran McKenna’s newcomers in the top flight.
