Fiorentina are set to complete the signing of Arthur Melo on a loan deal for the 2023/24 season. The player will be joining for a loan fee worth €3-4 million, and Fiorentina will also have a buy option included in the deal worth €20 million which is not mandatory.
The midfielder has arrived in Florence and undergone medical tests, and leaves Juventus on loan once again. In the 22/23 season, he was signed by Liverpool late in the transfer window to help bolster their midfield due to their injury crisis. But, he was injured severely even before he made one appearance and was sidelined for a significant part of the season.
Arthur Melo to sign for Fiorentina on a loan deal
The Brazilian has been declared out of the project alongside players like Leonardo Bonucci, Denis Zakaria as well as Weston McKennie. Owing to a change of regime at Juventus, they are offloading all the players that are no longer a part of the team’s future this summer.
Juventus will pay a part of Arthur Melo’s salary, and he will be expected to return back next summer unless Fiorentina decide to sign him permanently.
Considering the downward spiral that the midfielder’s career has been on since the infamous swap deal with Barcelona involving Miralem Pjanic as well, this will be a good chance for him to rebuild his career. An official statement from the club can be expected in the coming hours.
