Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum was linked with FC Barcelona since last summer. But the move did not materialize at that time. Now Juventus has joined the race to sign the Dutch midfielder.

Wijnaldum has only 6 months left of his contract with Liverpool. Recently Liverpool offered him a new contract. In response, he asked for some more time to think from the club. Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano Tweeted, “Liverpool made a new contract offer to Wijnaldum a few weeks ago. The proposal has not been accepted yet. Gini wants to reflect. And to pay respect to the club, he will give priority and communicate his decision to Liverpool before negotiating with other clubs as a free agent.”

As per some recent reports, Juventus wanted to seal the deal next summer. They want the Dutch midfielder in a free transfer.

Wijnaldum joined Liverpool in 2016 from Newcastle United. He has played 208 games for Liverpool in the last 5 seasons and scored 20 goals. He was a key part of Liverpool’s success in the last few years. He has won 1 Premier League, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool.

In November, Jurgen Klopp admitted that he wished that Wijnaldum extends his contract with Liverpool. The Liverpool boss said, “I cannot really say a lot about that. I would be happy if he would stay here – that’s maybe the only thing. But sitting here, I’m pretty happy with Gini. You see [that] when you look at most of the line-ups!”

As per recent reports in Italy, Juventus is planning to offer worth 6.5 million Euros per season over four years for him. It is a lucrative deal for Wijnaldum to think about.
