Inter Milan have won the Coppa Italia by defeating Juventus 4-2 in the finals, after extra time. It is the first time that they have won the domestic cup in eleven years, with their last victory coming in 2011.

For Max Allegri, it was a difficult night since he was sent off alongside his assistant. The manager said after the match that his reaction was due to someone from Inter ‘kicking him’. Moreover, it is the first time that the Juventus boss has lost a Coppa Italia final, winning in every appearance between 2015 to 2018.

The defending Serie A champions took the lead early in the game, courtesy of a screamer from Nicolo Barella. The midfielder was able to beat Mattia Perin after cutting in from the left flank and shooting from the edge of the box.

The second half saw a recharged Juventus come out firing on all fronts. Within the span of two minutes, they had the lead in the game as Alvaro Morata and Dusan Vlahovic scored in quick succession to flip the result on its head.

However, Hakan Calhanoglu scored a penalty in the 80th minute to level things up and send the game into extra time. Inter Milan were awarded another penalty in extra time, which Ivan Perisic converted to give his side the lead.

The Croatian scored again in the 102nd minute, finding the top right corner to bury the game and help his side overcome their rivals in the final.
