In the last few days, we saw Leicester City sacking Brendan Rodgers and Chelsea sacking Graham Potter. In the previous week we saw Tottenham Hotspur sacking Antonio Conte. Also, Bayern Munich sacked Julian Nagelsmann and appointed former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

After multiple manager sackings, no manager is safe if his team cannot perform. Liverpool has been a mere reflection of themselves this season and they lost their last Premier League match to Manchester City by a 4-1 scoreline. Liverpool are out of the Premier League title race and are now just fighting for a place in Europe this season. They also lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.

Liverpool are going through a lean patch of form which is very unlikely for Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool who were the only team to rival Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in recent seasons.

Jurgen Klopp is the last man standing in the Premier League manager sacking spree

Jurgen Klopp said after hearing about the sacking of Rodgers and Potter and losing 4-1 to City: “What can I say? The elephant in the room is probably why I am still sitting here, in this crazy world! Last man standing!”

“I respect them a lot, I like them both [Rodgers and Potter]. Fantastic managers still, but things can go the wrong way. We all accept that in the football business. It’s a strange week, [Antonio] Conte, [Julian] Nagelsmann, and now these two.”

Klopp further said: “I’m aware I’m sitting here because of what we’ve done in the past, not on this season. There is no need to be afraid, I’m not here as a mural on the wall, I’m here to deliver. I am fully in but we have to sort it out.”

Liverpool are set to face Chelsea in an away game, followed by a home match against the current Premier League leaders, Arsenal. These two fixtures are crucial for the Reds, who are looking to rescue their season with only 10 games left in the campaign. Liverpool will need to secure victories in both these games to improve their standings in the Premier League table.
