Liverpool managed to come from behind to earn all three points against a resolute West Ham United team, at Anfield. Pablo Fornals managed to open the scoring for the visitors with the very first effort of the game at only ten minutes into the game.

Despite managing to secure the early lead, the Hammers bottled the lead heading into half time, conceding a cheap penalty which Mohamed Salah converted to level things up at 45.

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota came on in the 70th minute to replace Bobby Firminho, and almost gave the hosts the lead in 7 minutes, but had the goal ruled out by VAR.

However, the Portuguese forward would strike again in the 85th minute and that was all it took for the reigning Champions to extend their 3 and a half year unbeaten run at home.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool’s new boy had this to say:

“The goal means a lot. Seeing the game on the bench, I’m always thinking about what I can do to change things.

“The most important thing was the win, we just want to keep winning games. With so many games you have to keep moving. Fortunately in the end I got the space. It was a great pass from Shaq.

“I played two games in the starting 11 before this one. It’s a team. The manager chooses the 11, we need to do our job.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was all praises for Jota and also commented on his team’s spirit.

“I cannot convince this group to fight if they are not fighters.

“It’s always been easy with this team to show them the right path and know that they will follow it.

“These boys, the basis for what we do is the character of them. It is always easy with this team.

“We show them the right path, they do it. They don’t have to be in the best shape, but if we can find a way to help, we help.”
