Julian Nagelsmann has officially decided to renew his contract with the Germany national team until 2026, keeping him in charge till after the FIFA World Cup. The former Bayern Munich manager took over the team replacing Hansi Flick in 2023, and was expected to stay until the Euros only.
But now, he has committed to the national team and will be staying for two more years. There were talks of Nagelsmann potentially returning to Bayern Munich as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement next season. But, those rumours have now been squashed with the news of his renewal.

The 38-year-old was pursued by a number of teams last summer, including Tottenham, Chelsea and PSG. However, they all went with different options as they couldn’t reach an agreement with Nagelsmann.
The Germany head coach revealed a few weeks ago that he was waiting to decide his future and was open to offers. In spite of interest from both Dortmund and Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann’s future lies in reviving the German national team after a decade of underperformance.
Not only Bayern, but Liverpool will also have to look elsewhere to find a new head coach now that one of their top options is unavailable. Bayern had Roberto De Zerbi and Unai Emery on their list, while Liverpool have been strongly linked with Ruben Amorim.
