Barcelona are all set to sign Julian Araujo after their appeal to the CAS. The transfer was disallowed for a delay of only 18 seconds on deadline day, and the plea has now been accepted. The move is expected to go through on Thursday, with a full agreement already in place.
Had the plea been rejected, there were plans for Araujo to sign for the club in the summer. But as things stand, he will be joining them immediately since the delay has been allowed by the governing bodies.
Julian Araujo to sign for Barcelona despite registering delay
A deal has been agreed with LA Galaxy for a fee worth around €4 million. Moreover, the 21-year-old will be signing a three-year contract until June 2026 upon his arrival in Catalonia.
Julian Araujo has gathered a wealth of experience during his time with LA Galaxy, and has made over a century of appearances already. The Mexican will be expected to provide cover for Jules Kounde, who is the preferred option for Xavi Hernandez. Moreover, he will also be an alternative to Sergi Roberto, who has fallen down the pecking order this season.
It is now only a matter of time before the player completes the formalities and is officially presented as a new player for Barcelona.
