Barcelona have no intentions of giving up in their pursuit of Julian Araujo of LA Galaxy. Things were all set for the transfer to go through, but the deal fell through by only 18 seconds due to a delay on the Transfer Matching System.
Barcelona Vice President Mateu Alemany has provided some clarity on the move, asserting that he will join the club down the line.
Julian Araujo to officially sign for Barcelona in the near future
“We have been following him for a long time. If they reject the appeal, he will play five months out and then he will join Barcelona Atletic,” Alemany said recently.
Barcelona had appealed for the transfer to be validated to the CAS. But as things stand, they have not come to a conclusion yet.
Even if the court rejects Barcelona’s plea, the plan is for him to join next summer. There is an agreement with the right-back over a three-year contract and personal terms.
Julian Araujo has made 109 appearances for the MLS side since making his debut in 2019. And in that time, he has scored two goals and provided 14 assists. With a lot of experience under his belt, he could be an exciting young signing for the Catalonian side.
The youngster played at the Barcelona Academy in Arizona in 2018, and has also trained at La Masia. As a result, it seems only a matter of time before he is holding up the Barcelona shirt.
