Manchester City have reached an agreement with River Plate to sign talented young striker Julian Alvarez. The player will be staying on loan with the Argentinian club until the end of the season before joining the City group.
The English club will be paying €18.5 million to sign the player, and Julian Alvarez will be signing for five years. But, despite his arrival, Manchester City will be in the market for a top striker this summer such as Harry Kane or Erling Haaland. In all likelihood, Alvarez will be loaned out to one of the City group clubs to gain experience before he is given a chance under Pep Guardiola.
Julian Alvarez to join City in the summer
Alvarez has attracted interest from a lot of top clubs in Europe with his remarkable performances in Argentina. He had a trial for Real Madrid at a very young age, and although Madrid wanted to sign him, they couldn’t do so due to the age barrier.
AC Milan and Real Madrid have both been linked with his services in recent months. But, it is Manchester City who have won the race for the exciting young talent. He is seen as the heir to fellow countryman Sergio Aguero by fans of the club, but City plan to ease him into the English brand of football.
The arrival of another talented prospect like Alvarez means that Manchester City have a number of top talents for the future, with the likes of Kayky already a part of the system.
