Chelsea will need to sign several defenders this summer, with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger set to join the two biggest clubs in Spain.
Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is one of the top targets for the Blues, alongside 3-4 other names. Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the player, and would like to have him as a part of his squad for the new season.
Jules Kounde still tops Chelsea’s transfer list
The Frenchman has been on Chelsea’s transfer list for the last two transfer windows. Last summer, he was close to making the switch to Stamford Bridge, but the move fell through and he continued with Sevilla for another season.
With the Blues losing two of their key defenders this summer, they will be extra motivated to sign Jules Kounde. Sevilla have maintained that Chelsea will need to pay his €80 million release clause to sign him, since they are under no pressure to sell him.
Kounde has made over 90 appearances for Sevilla since joining them from Bordeaux. And according to WhoScored, he has not committed a single error leading to goal yet. This will be a huge boost for Tuchel, whose players have been consistently making individual errors in recent games, which has cost them valuable points.
The 23-year-old might not be an instant solution for Thomas Tuchel, but will be a big part of their future if they are able to finally sign him this summer.
