Jules Kounde is expected to join Chelsea despite strong competition from Barcelona for his signature. The player had agreed personal terms with the Spanish side, and would’ve preferred to join Xavi Hernandez’s project.

However, Barcelona feel that they cannot match Chelsea’s proposal. The Blues have offered €9-10 million per season for a five-year deal. Barcelona are offering close to half that amount, which will not be enough to satisfy the centre-back’s demands. Chelsea’s £55 million bid has been accepted and only the final details remain to be sorted out.

Jules Kounde expected to join Chelsea

Barcelona feel Chelsea's proposal for Jules Koundé is "too important" to be matched. £55m to Sevilla with very good payment terms, almost €9/10m salary on a five year contract. 🚨🔵 #CFC

The Frenchman will be Sevilla’s most expensive sale of all-time, as a result it is taking extra time for the deal to go through. Paperworks for the move have been sent through, and only the final details need to be sorted out before the deal is made official.

In the upcoming hours, or a day, the formalities should be completed between the two clubs. Currently, the transfer is in its final stages. Moreover, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has himself said that Jules Kounde is headed to Chelsea when speaking to a fan.

Despite a late scare for fans given that Kounde was heading to Sevilla’s pre-season tour in Portugal, there should be no problem for him to join Chelsea. And after a year in the making, the player is finally going to get his move to West London.
