Jude Bellingham has won the Laureus Award for Breakthrough of the Year 2024, after his incredible start to life in Real Madrid. The former Borussia Dortmund man has hit the ground running, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions.

His latest contribution came in the form of the match winning goal against Barcelona, in Real Madrid’s 3-2 El Clasico win. And only 24 hours later, the England international was present at the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid to receive the award from tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, a Real Madrid fan himself.

Jude Bellingham won the award in category which also consisted of Real Madrid ‘s Linda Caicedo , tennis player Coco Gauff, swimmer Qin Haiyang, middle-distance runner Josh Kerr, and FC Barcelona striker Salma Paralluelo.

At the end of the ceremony, Bellingham told Real Madrid TV: “I’m delighted. Simply being here was already an honor. Being named Laureus Breakthrough is a privilege and I have to thank many people, my family, friends and above all the people at Real Madrid who have helped me this year. Being here is a privilege, alongside incredible athletes.”

The 20-year-old is leading the race for the LaLiga Pichichi Award this season, in spite of not being a natural striker. And with Madrid en route to another league title, as well as a possible Champions League, it could only get better for the youngster over the coming weeks.
