AC Milan are interested in signing Real Betis left-back Juan Miranda soon. The player is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Rossoneri could sign him for free next summer. Or, they could anticipate the transfer and pay a fee in the January transfer window to ensure that they get their man.

They have opened informal talks with the player over a potential contract, with a five-year deal discussed between the two. He is considered the best option for the club heading into the future, but a transfer depends on whether they can agree a fee with Betis or ascertain his transfer for free at the end of the campaign.

Fans might be surprised that AC Milan are going in for a new left-back considering they already have Theo Hernandez. But, according to metrics revealed by DataMB, the two players are quite opposite when it comes to their tendencies in the same position.

While Hernadez is more likely to carry the ball forward and help the team create chances by crossing or through line breaking passes, Juan Miranda is more defensive minded. He wins more duels than his French counterpart, and averages far more defensive actions and progressive passes.

As a result, the recruitment of Miranda could add a lot of versatility to the squad and allow Theo Hernandez to move further forward if the two ever have to play together.
