Jozy Altidore has completed his transfer to New England Revolution after leaving Toronto FC. The player departs after Lorenzo Insigne has been confirmed as a designated signing for the club. The Italian will be joining in the summer, and this has paved the way for Altidore to move on in his playing career.
The USMNT international’s arrival has been confirmed by all parties involved. He has signed a contract through the 2024 season of the MLS, and joined the club as a free agent.
Jozy Altidore completes New England Revolution move
“I am excited to begin this next chapter with the Revolution and look forward to competing for trophies in New England,” Altidore said in a statement. “I am grateful for this opportunity to reunite with Bruce Arena and look forward to getting to work with my teammates immediately.”
“We welcome Jozy Altidore to the New England Revolution,” head coach Bruce Arena said in a statement. “Jozy is a player we know well and feel confident that he will be an excellent addition to our team. I believe Jozy can continue to be an outstanding goal scorer, and we will work hard to get him back to full fitness and in good form over the next couple of months.”
Altidore has had to deal with a number of injuries during his spell at Toronto FC, which limited his playing time. A fallout with his manager at the time resulted in more time on the bench for the 32-year-old. Nonetheless, he can still provide value to the team when he is fit.
And now, it is a challenge to see how he can retain his fitness and keep himself available for his new manager.
