Josep Pedrerol claims Sergio Ramos will leave Real Madrid in the summer

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid has requested Sergio Ramos to take a pay cut to ease the club’s burden of paying Gareth Bale’s hefty wages. Ramos’ contract expires in the summer, and there has been no headway in discussions over a new deal.

Sergio Ramos is one of the most important members of the current Real Madrid squad and he is still performing at the highest level so it’s pretty difficult to expect him to accept a pay cut. There would be many clubs who will be willing to pay his current wage or even more to secure his services. So Real Madrid must deal with the matter in a careful way.

A recent report has come up in Marca, where Josep Pedrerol said on ‘El Chiringuito’ on Sunday that Sergio Ramos will be leaving Real Madrid in the summer.

Josep Pedrerol said: “Sergio Ramos is leaving Real Madrid. I don’t think there’s any possibility of him staying. There’s no way back.”

“In these circumstances, Real Madrid won’t offer him more money. It’s a shame and I think Ramos is making a mistake. Make an effort. Take 10 percent less and sign for two years and then, if the financial situation improves, this can improve too.”

Ramos joined the club in 2005 from Sevilla for €27 million and has been with them ever since. The Spaniard turns 35 at the end of March and has been demanding a two-year contract extension, which will see him receive the same salary that he is on right now.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano mentioned that his situation would be more transparent in one month. Florentino Perez will be a significant factor and have a chance to change his mind with individual involvement in contract talks with arguably their most loyal player over the last decade.
