Jose Mourinho has been offered more than €100 million to coach the Saudi Arabian national team, encompassing a two-year deal. That would make him the highest-paid manager ever in history. Cristiano Ronaldo’s present club Al-Nassr have reportedly shown interest in him, too, as their current manager Rudi Garcia is likely to leave at the season’s end.
Jose Mourinho to become the highest manager ever after being offered €100m to coach the Saudi Arab national side
Jose Mourinho joined Roma in 2021, and his present deal with the Serie A giants is up till 2024. However, there has been confusion over transfers and frustrations following Roma’s performance this season. With his contract still valid with the Italian club, Mourinho has now been directly approached by the management to guide the Saudi Arabia national team.
Reports suggest the contract includes €52 (€60m) each year and two options for the 60-year-old Portuguese. He can cancel the contract after the first season or extend it to 2026, the year of the next football World Cup in North America. The Italian press suggests Mourinho could follow Ronaldo, who has been super impressive in the Saudi Pro League after moving to Saudi Arabia.
The star Portuguese forward had worked with Mourinho at the Bernabeu for three seasons in the tenure between 2010 and 2013, bagging the La Liga championship and Copa del Rey.
Present equation with Roma
Mourinho has had a strong relationship with the club supporters but presently seems to have a tough time convincing the owners he deserves a new deal with zero offers on the table right now.
Reportedly, he has demanded three new players: a striker, a midfielder and a defender if he’s to continue with his position.
