According to reports from Italy, Roma boss Jose Mourinho has officially asked for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham as a replacement for Edin Dzeko.

Inter are looking at Dzeko as the replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is joining Chelsea for a deal worth €115 million. They are also planning to sign Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata alongside Dzeko. Interestingly, Atalanta are also in the race for Abraham because they want him to replace Zapata should he leave the club.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Dzeko and Inter have agreed a contract until 2023, and Roma only need to find a replacement for the player before the deal goes through. Tammy Abraham is the player that has been earmarked by Mourinho, but Roma consider the price to be a little too high.

Chelsea have marked their academy graduate at €47 million, and Roma will have to negotiate for a lower price if they want the youngster to join them this summer. The Italian capital club will face competition from Atalanta, Arsenal and West Ham United for Abraham. They could also sign the player on an initial loan deal with the option to buy later.

Abraham has found himself falling behind in the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel after emerging as Frank Lampard’s first choice striker. With Lukaku returning to the club and Armando Broja also expected to be the backup for the Belgian due to their similar profiles, a move away for the striker looks most likely.
