Mohun Bagan SG have confirmed Jose Molina as their new head coach for the coming season, replacing Antonio Habas, who was in charge after Juan Ferrando left. Molina returns to the ISL having served as the technical director of the Spanish Football Federation between 2018-2022.
In his previous spell in India, he won the ISL with ATK, which was eventually merged with Mohun Bagan SG. Now, he arrives for a second spell, and will coach one of the best sides in the division as they aim to continue their stronghold on the league title.

“I am honoured to be part of Mohun Bagan Super Giant , a club with rich legacy. I hope to bring more success to the club and its fans,” Jose Molina said in a statement released by the club.
“I would also like to thank Dr Goenka for giving me this opportunity and giving me the responsibility to take charge as head coach of Mohun Bagan Super Giant.”
The 53-year-old has a wealth of experience, having managed Villarreal’s senior team, as well as their B and C teams. He has also overseen Getafe’s B team, and Kitchee in the Hong Kong Premier League.
Mohun Bagan SG have been very quiet in the transfer window in comparison to their rivals, and perhaps the new coach was their priority before assembling the new squad. In any case, the plan has always been to make very few changes and the arrival of the new coach might not influence that stance very much.
