Jose Gaya is set to agree a new contract with Valencia soon, potentially ending all transfer speculation for the foreseeable future. The left-back will be signing a deal for the next five years which will see him continue at the club.

Both Gennaro Gattuso, the first team manager, as well as the board wanted to tie him down as a priority. And in the next few days, he will sign the official contracts once the documents have been finalised.

“I’m not talking about it being 100% certain, but I think Gayà is happy. The club is making a very big effort for a big player. I think he is going to sign. We hope he does because if he doesn’t they will kill me,” Gattuso said earlier this month when asked about the future of Jose Gaya.

The club captain has been the subject of transfer speculation from the likes of Barcelona and foreign clubs. However, he has stayed put at Valencia for the last few years and will be continuing.

Amidst the club selling most of their important players, they have been able to keep hold of their most valuable player. And now, they could be on the verge of a rebuild with an improvement shown on last season.
