“Joker 2” Trailer Confirmed Release Date

The release date for the “Joker 2” trailer has been confirmed. In the newly unveiled poster, Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, also known as Joker, is depicted in a classic ballroom dancing pose alongside his love interest Harley Quinn, portrayed by Lady Gaga. Both characters are elegantly attired, with Joker in a black tuxedo and Harley Quinn in a white dress, adorned with their signature clown makeup and wearing solemn expressions.

Warner Bros India’s X handle shared the poster with a caption revealing that the trailer for “Joker 2” will debut on April 9, generating anticipation for the film’s release scheduled for October 4. Notably, the first installment, “Joker,” premiered around the same time on October 2, 2019.

What Will Be ‘Joker 2’ About?

In “Joker 2,” Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the character for which he won the Best Actor Oscar, Arthur Fleck, also known as Joker. Joining the cast is Lady Gaga, portraying a character inspired by Harley Quinn.

Director Todd Phillips, recognized for his work on films like the Hangover series, Due Date, and War Dogs, rejuvenated the classic DC Comics hero with an origin story that became a blockbuster hit.

The original film chronicles the journey of Arthur Fleck, a failed clown who transforms into a criminal. For the sequel, the narrative takes a musical turn, with Lady Gaga’s involvement adding to the ensemble. This jukebox musical will feature 15 cover songs and boasts a budget of $200 million.

Zazie Beetz, who will reprise her role as Sophie in “Joker 2,” expressed her understanding of the shift in tone towards a musical format. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she commented, “I can see Arthur, who is feeling and experiencing so much, dancing and singing about it. He’s the Joker, so I think it makes sense to me.”

Joker 2 Might Be A Musical Thriller With More Than 15 Covers

The highly anticipated sequel to “Joker” is taking an unexpected turn – it’s evolving into a musical extravaganza. Details are emerging about the film’s soundtrack, which will feature a blend of at least 15 “well-known songs” reinterpreted for the dark and twisted world of Gotham. Adding to the allure, original music will be incorporated into the mix. Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, stepping into the roles of Joker and Harley Quinn respectively, are poised to infuse their own charisma into “Joker: Folie à Deux.”

“Joker 2” promises a repertoire of over 15 cover songs, according to a report from Variety on Friday. The long-awaited follow-up, helmed by Todd Phillips, is said to predominantly showcase familiar tunes, with approximately 15 reimagined tracks in the pipeline. Described as a “jukebox musical” by an insider, one of the songs likely to receive a reinterpretation is “This Is Entertainment,” originally from the 1953 production “Band Wagon,” often associated with Judy Garland.

While the report hints at the possibility of original compositions alongside the reimagined covers, specific details remain shrouded in mystery. Warner Bros., when approached for comment, declined to provide insights into this aspect or the potential involvement of Hildur Gudnadottir, the Academy Award-winning composer of the first film. Nonetheless, a source has hinted that Gudnadottir may still incorporate her distinctive and evocative musical touches into the performances.
