Watford have extended the contract of one of their top talents, Joao Pedro, until 2028. The Brazilian was close to joining Newcastle United this summer, but the deal ultimately fell through and he ended up staying with the Hornets.
Over the course of two and a half years with the club, he has become one of their top players. Watford already sold Emmanuel Dennis this summer, and the departure of Pedro would have been another huge blow to their hopes of returning to the Premier League this season.

The player has scored 15 goals from 58 starts, and has made 83 appearances across all competitions during his time at the club. The new contract will see him earn a higher salary, and potentially puts all transfer speculation to rest for the time being.
The Brazilian turns 21 on Monday, September 26, and has continued to show his impressive form. He has scored two goals and two assists to show from nine appearances this season.
His impressive displays earned him the club’s player of the month award for August, with 51% of the fans voting in favour of Joao Pedro over the rest of the squad. It now remains to be seen how long the youngster will stay at the club before possibly moving to a new, and more competitive side.
