The Portugal international was extremely close to completing a transfer to Bayern during the winter transfer window. He went as far as completing a photoshoot in the former Bundesliga winners’ kit, but the deal ultimately fell through on deadline day as the documents were not exchanged on time.
Now, the two clubs have finalised the terms of the transfer well in advance, leaving only the formalities after Euro 2024 for the move to go through.
A defensive midfielder has been very high on Bayern’s transfer wishlist for a while now. And Joao Palhinha will be the perfect addition to the club’s line-up, adding more stability to the team and allowing attackers more freedom in the final third.
